i have a cold!!!!

Its official i woke up yesturday with my cold in full swing. I still had to work yesturday and in a bit i will be off to work again till about 10.30 tonight. There is a shift runner on holiday so basically even if i did phone in sick, i would be asked to go in as there is no one to run the shift for me :-(
It really couldnt have come at a worse time. I hope its gets a bit better for tomorrow. JT is arriving at about 11am and i dont want to look a snotty mess for when he gets here.
oh well i supose i had better get ready for work. I will try to moan less in my next entry. Im a bit of a wuss when im ill lol

beauty, meets and a common cold!!

Today was my day off. My driving lesson was cancelled due to the snow, so i was able to have a bit of a lie in. So my day as consisted of, completing another level of the totally addictive game called the mystery of time and space. Its a logic game where you have to figure out how to get out of the room. Its brilliant. I have also gave my room a complete sortout. This is partially because it needed doing, but also because JT is here on Saturday. Im really looking forward to seeing him and he is also staying over. I am lovingly giving up my bed up for the night so he can get a good nights sleep. This evening i spent some time on the computer and then JT rang so we chatted for a bit. After we said goodnight i decided to have a bit of a pampering time. Ive brought some of those things you put on your nose etc to get rid of all the rubbish. (There wasnt any btw) anyway as usual when i try to do anything to improve my skin or beauty stuff in general it didnt really go to plan. I ended up with my eyes watering as it got stuck and i couldnt get it off. It was so painful and my nose is now really sore. It doesnt help either that ive caught a bit of a cold off mom and dad. So my nose is a bit sore anyway. Oh well hopefully the redness goes before tomorrow.
Other news. my goodie box from Canada arrived the other day. Myself and a canadian shipmate decided to send eachother parcels of goodies you can only get in our own country. I sent things like, softs mints, pot noodles etc. The package i got was brilliant. I got things like a kraft dinner, hersey bars etc. It is fantastic.
Anyway i am on a day shift tomorrow so i need to get to bed. Hopefully this cold as gone by saturday. As i dont want to be feeling poorly as we have a full day ahead.

Interview!!!

Tuesday i managed to get all my presentation sorted, and even if i do say so myself it was really good. I was still a bit nervous though. I arrived at the vicarage at 2pm and we had coffee etc. Then it was a tour of the area. I was the second person to give my talk infront of 7 people including two of the young lads. They seemed to enjoy it, they liked my display work and laughed in all the right places. My formal interview seemed to go really well also. I finally left about 5.30 and got a taxi into town as i was meeting my friend for tea.
It was a really nice evening although my feet were killing at that point. I dont think im destined to wear heals. Anyway he was very lovely again and walked me to the station, even though his bus was right outside the pub, and i made my way home. I was gutted that if id have got into Birmingham 5 minutes earlier i could have got on my train back to Wolverhampton but alas i didnt so had to then wait around for 30mins for the next one. I finally got home about 12am as my dad picked me up from the station. Ooh nice thing happened on the journey home. I was on one of the new posh trains that has a radio built into the seat. I wasnt able to listen to it the previous weekend as it wasnt working. I needed something to keep me awake to i went to the shop bit to buy some headphones. He wasnt sure if they were working so he gave me some of the first class headphones for free just incase. They are actually quiet good, so that was a bonus. As you know i love getting free gifts with things and it was brilliant that i didnt even have to buy a magazine to get them :-)
I had to be at work the following morning, so was really tired. That evening i planned to just have a relaxing evening in. It didnt really happen though as i forgot to hand over the safe key to Chris so at 9pm my dad had to take me back to the shop to hand it over. I just put my jeans on over my pjs and put on a big cardie, so no one could tell lol
Also about 7.30ish the church i had my interview at rang. They said they really liked what i said and loved my talk, they said i have lots of gifts and came across very confident. Alas though they were giving the job to someone else. They said i needed a bit more experience in leading, but should keep going for it as they think i would be really good. I am a bit gutted as although i got to tell them loads of stuff, there were no questions that really gave me the option to tell them about all the things i have lead etc. Oh well im sure something else will come along soon. They were a great bunch of people and i hope they continue to be blessed and that the person they picked will have a great time there and be able to get involved in loads of great things.
Tonight i was at work again. Im really tired this week and i dont have another day off now till wednesday. I keep going to bed really late which is silly, i could do with a day where i go to bed at a normal time and i dont have to set my alarm so i just wake up when im ready to.
Tomorrow im on a day shift. Its going to be manic as a newspaper are giving away free DVDs again, so we are bound to have a huge queue for when we open. There is only going to be the two of us until 3pm and we also have to go and collect the change. So a fun day ahead hmmmm.

Sheffield!!!

I had a fantastic weekend in Sheffield. I got to catch up with some folks and also meet some new ones. Sheffield is really lovely. The men at the meet were complete gentlemen. They even carried my suitcase and sleeping bag after we left the pub. Once we got to a shipmates house, he made us all a rather wonderful cocktail, which blended milk, icecream and a baileys style drink. It was absolutly gorgeous. I even got my own bed which was a fantastic bonus.

The following day we all went out for lunch to a lovely pub in the Penines ( i will check out if i have spelt it right and edit at some point if i need to ) After lunch one of the lads dropped someone off at the station and then he showed me around his church. They are doing loads of building work and have some great plans for the church also. It all is very exciting for them as a church. He then took me to the station and he was a complete gentleman, as he carried my bags and waited with me till my train arrived ( you know who you are, and your a complete star for doing that <smile>)

I got home about 8pm and spent the rest of the evening chatting on the computer.

Today i was working the day shift. It was a good shift and suprisingly went really quick.

Im off tomorrow and wednesday. Tomorrow i will be spending most the day preparing a 10minute talk i have to give at my interview for the youth work job im applying for.

My friend melissa has helped me with some ideas. I have jokingly said that i want her as my ‘Life Guru’ as she always manages to say and think of the most brilliant things.

They also sent me a DVD to watch, which shows the area and some of the vision for the church. They are involved in some pretty amazing things, and would be brilliant to be a part of it all. Wednesday i will be traveling back up to Sheffield for the interview and then off out for some tea with the previously mentioned ‘Star’ So a good couple of days ahead i think :-)

Weekend away and hoorah i have another job interview!!!!

Thursday i rang up a church as i had spotted their job advertisement for a youthworker. Usually i am able to just send a email for the application form, but this one i had to ring. They hadnt put a closing date on the advertisement so i assumed i had plenty of time to get things written out and sent back to them. Unfortunatly the closing date was friday, but they said they would send me it via email to fill in and then email it back.

When i finished work i didnt have chance to sort it out then, as i was off out to the panto. An excellent evening btw but i will tell you more about that another time. When i got home, i started filling it out, they wasnt asking for loads of information, so it didnt take long. They confirmed on the friday that they had received it and said they would contact me today to say if id got a interview or not for next wednesday or thursday.

As my days off next week are monday and tuesday i had to try and find a way to get it covered if needed. I got the phone call at lunchtime today to say that i have got a interview, which is excellent news.

I then rang work to confirm i needed to swap my shifts. I am now working monday and have got wednesday off. I then had to try and sort out my train tickets and again excellent news as i have managed to get a return ticket for only £19.50

This weekend i am off to the Sheffield meet. It should be a excellent weekend and im looking forward to catching up with folks and meeting new ones also.

I have an hour to get showered and pack my bag as i have to be in Wolverhampton by 5.20 to catch my train.

Have a good weekend.

Busy week!!!

I feel like im working loads of night shifts at the moment. I worked last night and tonight also. We should have four staff working a monday night, but due to cut hours we were only allowed three. Unfortunatly one of those staff members phoned in sick, so there was only the two of us. By the time i got home just after 10.30pm, my feet were killing me. Its at times like this i wish i had a boyfriend who was willing to give foot masages at a moments notice :-) but alas i dont, so my feet will continue to be in pain :-(

Im working tomorrow day and im really looking forward to a evening in. Its my only night in this week, as im working wednesday and friday night, thursday im at a pantomine and im in sheffield over the weekend. Im really looking forward to it. There was a near disaster with my tickets though as this morning i woke up about 8am to let the dog out and i somehow managed to knock my glass of water all over my chest of drawers at the side of my bed. Various things got soaked including my train tickets, but they seem to have dried off ok.

I mentioned a few entries ago about a fantastic soppy film that i had watched. I was very pleased today that it was being transfered to ex rental for only £2.99, with my discount i picked it up for only £2.40

I also brought brand new on dvd…The santa clause, Martha meets frank, daniel and lawrence and The cookie fortune. I got all four movies for about £12 which was a bit of a bargain. Last week they finally reduced the friends dvds to £6.50 so again with my discount i got all of series 7 for £30. The only ones i need now is the last one on series 8 and 9. Ive got them all on dvd except for the last 2 series. I origionally brought most of series 8 and 9 on video for about £4 each. For the first 6 series they have 8 episodes on a dvd, so with the buy one get one free offer it worked out cheaper than buying the videos. My plan was to then from series 7 to get them on video as they started putting only 4 of a dvd so videos were the cheeper option. Until i realised i could get them really cheap on dvd. I could in theory complete my set by getting the last 2 on dvd, but it will look really odd when they are displayed together. I know that is a bit sad, but its one of my little quirks lol

Anyway enough of boring you with my friends dilema :-)

I must remember to pick up some cardboard boxes from work as my room is starting to look a little overcrowded. I keep finding fantastic housy things that i will need for when i move out again. When that will be,

I have know idea, it depends what happens with the jobs that im applying for.

My latest purchase is a herb chopper. It was in the Next sale. It is a double bladed one and even comes with its own chopping board, with the centre scooped out so the blades fit in it perfectly. I got it for the bargain price of only £4.99.

I will use the boxes to store some stuff in my room that i wont be using, so atleast i have room to move and it stops looking untidy. I like to have things organised so its really bugging me at the moment that i have stuff everywhere. I need to sort through my clothes aswell, as i can no longer fit everything in my wardrobe and so im sure some things can be sent to the charity shop. There are things i havnt even worn yet. Its always the way, no matter how many clothes you have, you always tend to stick to the same few things as they are the favourites. I hate throwing things away as i always think there will be some use for them at some point, but im going to have to be ruthless.

Ive just thought, again i have waffled on for ages. I wasnt going to make a post as i didnt think i had anything to say, but alas it seems i did lol

Im going to be on telly!!!!!!

Well i might be anyway, you will probably just get a glimse of my hand or horrors of horrors my bum!!!!!

If you watch telly at all, you will have noticed that Stars in theirs eyes is coming back on. My old district manager auditioned for the program and got through to a show. As you may know, they always record a bit about you in your home town or your place of work. My old DM decided it would be a really good idea to have it filmed at my shop lol. My boss, another member of staff and myself were working that day, so we got to see them film it. I basically tried to hide out the way, cause my uniform is horrible and not very flattering, but there may be a slight glimse of me at some point. hee hee. The last time i thought i would be on telly, is when i sang on the TV prog "My Kind of People". I was there singing " I will always love you" with a old man on a bontempi organ for my backing. It really was the most shocking thing and im soooo glad it was never shown.

Anyway about today. I met up with my ex for lunch. It was really nice. I was running late due to the buses, so i text him to say for him to order. He never texted back so i assumed he hadnt got it. I finally got there at 1.20pm and he had got my text and ordered and paid for the meals. I had the choice of beef stew or a beef dinner. I chose the beef dinner, and then we had apple pie and custard for desert. I was really nice to catch up and we had a good chat and laugh about various stuff. Which included the rather funny true story about him being the compare for the local beauty pagent and i finally got the gossip out of him about his new girlfriend. They have been together since last march and get on really well. Im really glad that he as finally grown up and can cope with not being a divvy bloke lol. We really are so much better as friends and i realised how much i had missed meeting up with him. It was nearly three years ago since we dated and for the last year we hadnt seen that much of eachother. I think the way you can be around someone after not seeing them for ages really shows how good the friendship is. There are some friends who i havnt spent alot of time with over the last year and sometimes the conversation can be really hard going. He is one of those friends who it seems like id only last saw him the day before. He finally headed back to work about 3pm and i headed off to the shops.

I had to take back a disposable camera that wasnt working, and then it was time for a bit of serious shopping. First of all i went into "The Works". Its a fantastic shop where you can get books and art stuff really cheap. I ended up buying some paints etc and a couple of books. One was called " The weekend decorator" and the other one was called " The Culture book". They should have cost £23 and i got them for £7 so a huge bargain.

I then was on a mission to buy a new winter coat, some new underwear and a pair of black trousers for work. Amazingly i got all three, plus two more pairs of trousers and a new top. Unfortunatly only the top and two pairs of trousers were in the sale. The rest i had to pay full price for. My mom really hates my coat. She says its like something you either get from a charity shop or something that your granny wears. I love it though and ive been trying to get one like it for ages. I also needed to buy a new scarf to match the coat as the ones i already have at home wouldnt match. I managed to get that in the sale also though, so that was good.

I finally got home about 5pm and have just pottered about on the computer, ate a chinese ( sweet & sour chicken cantonise style and egg fried rice with a side order of prawn toast ) YUM. While i was eating the chinese i watched a movie from work. Its not out till monday but we are allowed to rent them as soon as they are added onto the system. It was called "The Identity". Absolutly fantastic. On the box it said it had a alternative ending but i couldnt find it. There was the cinema version and the uncut version, but they both seemed to have the same ending, so im not sure what was going on. I also watched " Fat Friends" which dad had taped for me last night as i was at work till 1am doing a retail inventory.

Anyway that should be enough for you to read through. Tomorrow i have an exciting day of ironing and helping dad with the weekly shop and then in the evening im off to the cinema with Jonathan and Wendy.

Humour!!!

Now im not what you call a naturally witty person, but even if i do have to admit it myself i do occasionally come out with a rather brilliant ‘one liner’. There are some people who think that my jokes are not funny, and groan or look puzzled when i say something that i think is quite funny. For example, and can i just point out for the record it will probably not be as funny writing it down, but if you were there at the time, i hope that you would have seen the humour in my comment. Ok the situation happened at work about 2 weeks ago. Chris had been given a old £10 note from his sister by mistake. Although its quite obvious the differences in the new and old note, he pointed out that one £10 note had a picture of Charles Dickens and the other one had a picture of Charles Darwin. I turned round and said the rather amusing line " Yes and that one has a picture of Charles’s mom" ie the Queen. They looked at me as if id just said the most bizarre thing ever. When i got home i told my dad what had happened and he atleast found it funny, and is even thinking of using it as a quiz question, when he sorts out the quiz questions for his next quiz. So atleast something positve came out of the situation.

Something that isnt funny is that we have had a letter off the water board to say that at 23.59 -10.00 on saturday morning we will have no water. Whether they mean no water altogether or just no hot water, i have no idea. Anyone who knows me, knows that i have to have my daily shower and wash my hair. I have the kind of hair that tends to look greasy after one day of washing it, so its vital that i am able to wash it, so i dont look a greasy mess. Unfortunatly i am at work on that morning so i will be unable to have a shower. Its going to be a case of filling up every sauce pan and bucket we have with water the night before, so i can have a wash before work. I remember about 14 months ago when the heating broke at home and i had to boil water on the stove so i could wash my hair and have a bath. It took ages and i had to get up for work loads earlier. I know it sounds rather vain and pathetic, but i hate the thought of looking greasy and smelling. Im just gutted that i have thursday and friday off, so it wouldnt have mattered if they had turned the water off then, as it would be sorted by 10am. So i could have just had a shower then. Oh well its all part of the fun and im sure i can survive one day without having a shower. It can be one of the new and fun things i plan to do in 2004 ha ha ha

Jazz!!!!

Saturday night i had a fantastic evening. I mentioned a while back i went to a dinner where there was Steve Chalk and Winkey Pratney speaking, well this was another one of those evenings. This time though they had a Modern funky jazz band and a comedian. It wasnt meant to be a religious night, just a large group of young people from the age of 18-35ish. There was over 200 of us there all from different churches. The comedian writes for the tv show " The Sketch show " and Tim Vine was also there, but just as a friendly face in the crowd for his friend. The music was fantastic and we even got up and had a bit of a bop. The only disturbing thing was that i paid £4.50 for a white wine and soda EEK. Anyway it was a great evening and i even got a late christmas pressie off Vicki as i hadnt had chance to see her.

I even got chatting to an ex of mine. We never quite worked out as a couple. We dated for a week and it was a disaster. We were really good friends before we decided to go out and have continued to be really good friends since. He is even one of the people i have for my refrences for the youth work jobs that im applying for as i have done most of my youth work with him. We are going out for lunch on thursday so that will be really nice to catch up and have a good old natter.

I got the bug :-(

After working boxing day, i had three whole days off which was fantastic. My nephew and brother came over on the friday night and stayed over, then on the saturday evening, my two nieces were here. Sunday i didnt have any plans as there was no church service. Well i didnt think there was as there usually isnt, but i was looking in my bag and looked at my church notices and spotted there was infact a service at 4pm and then a bring and share party. It was too late to go, which is why i didnt do anything on sunday.

Monday morning i popped to Ikea with a friend and her husband. It was the sales so managed to get a few bargains. They sell 100 tea lights for the bargain price of £1.75 and that isnt even in the sale. When i saw them at that price last year i couldnt work out if the sign said £7.75 or £1.75 as the one was wrote funny. After Ikea i dropped my things off at home and then a shipmate who lives in the same area was having a open day at home with cups of tea and mince pies so i popped in for a couple of hours.

I then had to go into work and pick up my work keys as they were needed by a shift runner while i was off. On the way home i started to feel a bit unwell, but thought it was because i hadnt really eaten properly all day and just ate a piece of cake at Ikea and then mince pies. By 9pm ish i was being sick etc ( i wont go into details as it really wasnt pleasent ). At 11.30pm i textd chris as i was working with him the next day to say for him to get in a bit early incase he needed to get cover. Fortunatly he is also a shift runner so it would be easier to get someone else in. I continued to be ill thoughout the night and didnt get any sleep. So at 7.30am i rang chris again to say i definatly wasnt going to be in work.

I hate phoning in sick as they always think your lying, it didnt help that they had saw me earlier in the day and i was fine and also that i had just had three days off, but i really couldnt get myself up and ready for work as i felt really naff. I even had to cancel going to my friends party, and sods law i also had to decline going to the cinema with jonathan as i was already busy anyway.

I just hope that vicki doesnt think i was lying about being ill, as id asked her if jonathan was invited to the party the night before, and aparantly he wasnt as it was only people who are in girls group and her housegroup that was invited. I wanted to check with her incase he had forgot it was the party and that is why he wanted to go to the cinema. Hopefully she will be speaking to him soon though, so it will confirm that i didnt see either of them that night. I do worry about daft things, but id hate her to think i was lying to spend time with someone else. Especially as she thinks me and jonathan should be dating. Me and jonathan however are happy to be just friends.

Yesturday i ended up going to work even though i didnt feel 100%, I didnt want them to think i was skiving and also it meant that they could see that i wasnt lying about being ill as my face was still puffy and my eyes were all yellow and bloodshot ( very attractive lol )

New years eve i was planning to go to the church celebrations but instead i put on my pjs and slobbed infront of the telly, as i really didnt feel well enough to go out. I am such a wuss when it comes to being ill.

Today is my other day off, so hopefully i will be back to my normal self tomorrow.

One of my new years resolutions should probably be not to be so bothered by what others think of me lol

Anyway hope you all had a great new years eve.
