I failed my driving test
I wasnt that nervous on the test, which suprised me. I actually drove quite well and would have passed as i only got 11 minors. I did however make 3 mistakes which he said i failed on. Although im disapointed i failed, im actually really proud of how i did drive and i never thought i would be confident behind the wheels of a car. Two highlights ( for want of a better word ) were…
1- I was driving down a road and waiting for my instructor to tell me whether to go left or right. The end of the road was getting closer and there wasnt a road to carry straight over onto. As i asked him which way he wanted me to turn i suddenly noticed the big sign saying "dual carrageway" I laughed and said " please pretend i didnt say that" he smiled and said " Yes, i think that would be best"<blush>
2- I was driving along a road and i noticed a woman starting to cross the road. I did the correct thing of checking my mirrors, slowed the car down and came to a stop. The woman then started to walk over to the car and as she passed, looked into the car and said "you had better not try and run over my baby with your car".
It took me all my strength not to laugh, but i managed to carry on driving once it was safe to do so.
Once my test was over my driving instructor drove me home and i had to then get ready for my holiday, which i will tell you about in my next entry.

Driving test!!!!!
10 whole days off !!!!!!
I finished work on thursday after a horrible shift. By 6pm though i was happy as i new it was then the start of 10 days off. hoorah.
Friday- JT arrived in the morning as we were off to the Ideal home show. It was fantastic. There was a DIY section, a household section and a food and drink section. The DIY bit was brilliant. It was like a live version of QVC and any tv advert that you see trying to sell you something.
We only noticed one food stall and the rest was furnature etc. Someone then pointed out that there was another building full of stuff. When we arrived in that one, we discovered a room full of various textiles and beyond that a whole market of wonderful foods and drinks. We decided to try all the free stuff and i managed to try out a vast number of different alcoholic beverages. I ended up buying some rather lovely bottles of drink.
A bottle of cherry gin, a bottle of sloe gin, a bottle of red wine, a bottle of something like baileys and another baileys style drink which also had prailines in it.
In the evening i had some folks off ship of fools arrive as i had organised a artists weekend and some needed to stay over the night before.
Saturday- We were all meeting at the hotel i had booked for us all to stay in. Then we headed for the Arboretum. Before we left i gave the non artists a colouring book and jumbo crayons so they could also produce a work of art hee hee. It was about lunch time by the time we got to the park, so 21 of us all tucked in to the bring and share picnic. It was so lovely just chatting and eating. The weather was also lovely and we had a great time. By about 2pm some folks went to the pub to watch the football and the rest of us started painting, drawing etc. I ended up doing a charcole drawing of a tree and it turned out really well and was very pleased with it. At about 6pm we headed back to the hotel to get ready for tea and after tea we had drinks in the bar and played cherades and other silly games. The following morning we went to my church, then the art gallery and then finished the weekend with a wonderful pub lunch, where we consumed a few jugs of sangria.
In the evening me and JT were meeting up with my old housemate and her husband for a wonderful meal in town.
Monday- I had a driving lesson and then JT headed off home. In the afternoon i popped into town with my dad and i ended up buying a pair of jeans and a new top. I then relaxed for the rest of the day.
Today- I had another driving lesson and then popped into town again to buy one more top for my holidays and ended up with 3 new tops, underwear and a jacket. They had a sale on and were all bargains. Two of the tops were extra bargains as i have at home 2 pairs of trousers that i dont wear as i had nothing to go with them, but i do now.
Tomorrow i have a driving lesson at 1.30 and then finally my driving test as arrived. Im really nervous and really hope that i pass. I already have the money for a car and it will be brilliant if i can drive as i hate relying on people for lifts and it means i get get to more places easier. At about 4pm im heading off to the coach station as me and JT are off to London till sunday night. Im so excited as we have so many great things planned including meeting up with some of his friends and also there is a ship meet on the saturday evening.
All in all this is shaping up to be a fantastic 10 days off.

Siatica
This is something that i have had problems with for years. It all stems back to when i was about 17 and i went to a Levellers concert. I was on the second row and having a great time. However i made the mistake of joining in with all the moshing (headbanging) and in true clumsy style, i gave myself whiplash <blush>
I had to wear a surgical coller for a few weeks. I had just started doing a job in a old peoples home, where it was quite short staffed and sometimes i had to lift the residents on my own. My neck still wasnt 100% and in the end it resulted in me getting siatica in my left side. I still have problems with it now 12 years on. Its not helped with the fact that i have a swollen acilies(spell) tendon, which i got, again rather clumsily by falling off a kerb while taking the rubbish to the bin at work. The two combined have caused me some problems over the years. Anyway the point of me telling you this is because i was looking at my statistics on my wiblog and at number 8 on the list of top 10 referers to the page is because someone typed in Siatica on a search engine. I am amazingly number 4 on the list lol. So if that is you who found my blog through typing in Siatica, then a big hello to you and hope your not in too much pain with it.

Domestic Goddess????????
Although i love doing different things and going different places i am at heart a bit of a homebody. My friends call me a bit of a monica (think Tv prog friends) I like to be organised with stuff and i drive people mad at work as im always tidying up stuff, including stuff they havnt finished using. I love the idea of being able to arty stuff and craft stuff really well. Most things i can do, it may not be very good but i will always give it a go. Years ago i used to make loads of clothes, this included a pair of patchwork trousers for a friend of mine. I even tie dyed the material and hand sewed the patches individually. I did have a sewing machine at one point but it didnt have any instructions so i never got the hang of it. So i used to hand sew everything.
On wednesday after work i travelled up to JTs and on the thursday i was going into work with him. I spent the morning filling out an application form for a job and i also got him to finally tidy up his office. The actual reason i was meant to be there was to help him sew some velcro on large pieces of material that needed hanging in his church. It was going to be my second attempt at using a sewing machine. I was a bit nervous but as he knows how to use one, i thought it would be easy to pick up. Argghhhh how wrong i was. The cotton kept breaking and the stitching looked awful on the first one. We figured out after ringing his mom that we were using the wrong thread and then JT changed the tension setting. It then worked a bit better, but by 6pm i had only completed 2 out of the 4 pieces of material, so i had to leave it. I was gutted that i wasnt a natural at it, and ive had to admit im not the domestic goddess that i strive to be.
I think i will just have to stick at being Miss organised rather than miss Crafty

Does Sweetcorn Multiply?????
Hi there. Im not at work until 5pm today as i have a retail inventory to lead which means i will be at work until 2am. It may be even longer as i have a to show a trainee manager how its all done. I still find it rather bizarre that in the last few months i have trained up a trainee manager to run his own store and also a district manager to also run a store. He as been banned from driving for a year and so as been demoted to manager as he cant get round to any of his stores without a car. As im only an assistant manager something doesnt seem quite right that i can train others to do a job higher than the one im currently in. Anyway back to today.
I had my driving lesson at 12-1pm and as im at work till late, i decided to do a larger lunch than i would normally have. I decided on tuna, sweetcorn, pasta and salad cream all mixed together. YUM. I try to not put too much sweetcorn in as i always seem to be left loads at the bottom of the bowl. Today i put in even less and seemed to be eating quite a bit of it thoughout the meal, but i still ended up with loads in the bottom of the bowl.
So my question for today is….
DOES SWEETCORN MULTIPLY???????????????????
